The term "genocide" did not exist before 1944. It is a very specific term, referring to violent crimes committed against groups with the intent to destroy the existence of the group. Human rights, as laid out in the U.S. Bill of Rights or the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, concern the rights of individuals.
Genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to
destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious
group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing
serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c)
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to
bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d)
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e)
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group

Words that describe Genocide:
horrific
tragic
an atrocity
atrocious
horrendous
appalling
gruesome
abominable
deplorable
What Genocide means to me.
Genocide is a selfish way of destroying peoples lives, just because they don't look like you or act the way you do, does not give anyone a right to kill. Genocide means to kill without any feeling or emotion. Genocide means to make people suffer. Genocide means to not give people a fair go in life. Genocide means to never meet relatives you wish you had..
Touchy subject. so sorry if i seem angry hehe

The link above is an article about one of Khmer Rouge Leader, who just LAST YEAR admitted that he committed the crimes during the khmer rouge regime.
Kaing Guek Eav (aka duch) was in charge of S-21 Toul Sleng Prison, Duch's job was to extract confessions from prisoners of counter-revolutionary activity, but every prisoner who arrived at S-21 was destined for execution.
"As a member of the [Khmer Rouge] I recognise responsibility for what happened at Tuol Sleng," says Duch..
Personally, I can't really accept such an apology, with some of my uncles and aunties getting tortured and eventually leading to suicide. I do believe in 2nd chances, but i don't know about this one. Real mixed emotions on this one..
-i have some photos of the prison somewhere, but i will find it asap.

Not too long ago (late 1970s) my parents decided to move from Cambodia to live in New Zealand. They were one of the few who made it out of Cambodia. For those who don't know, during the 1970s Cambodia was going through what the Jewish went through with Hitler (For a rough example..)
John Pilger is a journalist who entered Cambodia during the Pol Pot Regime and documented what was happening inside Cambodia.
Here is one of his documentaries. ENJOY

Ambigram: is a typographical design or artform that may be read as one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction or orientation
Hidden messages? i find this really cool, it allows you to give then more than just one meaning to a word, and it just looks really awesome ha ha. John Langdon (who does ambigrams for Angels & Demons, Da Vinci code and The Lost symbol) does amazing ones! you can check him out at www.johnlangdon.net
Who knows, maybe Generations before us were using ambigrams all along?
(oh yeah, my topic is Lost Civilization which we branched off into Lost Generations :D)
